Genre Poster Analysis - Sinister/Sinister 2

The poster both have similar designs which is good as the storyline of the second is a follow on from the first. The blood stains on the wall have the face of the sinister in them which is similar in both posters, and suggests there is going to be death in the films. There is also a child in the poster who is dragging their hand in the blood which suggests they are the child who is possessed by the sinister and kills their family. In the second poster there is also the brother of the possessed boy who's face is edited so it looks like he is violently shaking it from side to side. This links to the film as he was the one will the darkness in him but wasn’t chosen by sinister to kill his family and was angry about this. At the top of both posters it tells you what other films were produced by the producers of these films as they were only successful horror films and would persuade fans of them films to watch these ones. Also at the bottom of both it has the cast member names etc which is common in all film posters. The name of the film is also on both but in different positions. The right on is on the bottom which is positioned there so the imagery of the poster is still visible. Also the on the Sinister 2 poster there is use of lines to create the 2 which are made to look like people are hanging. This suggests this is something that happens in the film. The colour schemes are similar with use of red (symbolising blood), however the left one uses white which symbolises purity however she isn't pure as she becomes possessed and kills her family, however the second poster uses dark colours which links to the darkness in them, mainly the brother as he wanted to kill his family however the children usually don't until the sinister takes over. Also the backgrounds are similar as the walls are cracked and there is wooden floorboard but the are different colours. This links to setting of the films as it is in the families houses and its the same process for films.
